5 Thanksgiving Appetizers To Spice Up The Snack Table


Lets talk appetizers. It's time to focus on the meal before the meal. Thanksgiving is an all day eating affair so snacking in between meals is totally allowed. Food for Your Mood is suggesting some out of the box appetizer recipes to spice up the snack table. From cheese lovers to the veggie fanatics and all of those in between there is sure to be an appetizer to please. Here are 5 must-serve appetizers for you and your guests to enjoy:

  • 15 oz can pumpkin

  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, not packed

  • 1 tsp vanilla

  • 1/8 tsp cinnamon

  • 1/8 tsp pumpkin pie spice (or more to taste)

  • 6 oz 0% Greek yogurt (Fage)

  • 8 oz Truwhip

  • cut up apples, for dipping

  • 1 1/4 lbs ground turkey, 90% lean

  • 1/4 cup bread crumbs, plain

  • 1/4 cup ricotta, (I use whole milk)

  • 1 egg, large

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 2 Tbs sage, chiffonade

  • 2+Tbs vegetable oil

  • 2 Cups Marinated Mozzarella Balls

  • 2½ Cups Panko Bread Crumbs

  • Marinara Sauce (homemade or store bought)

  • Cooking spray

  • 1 (12-ounce) bottle hard cider

  • 3/4 cup chicken broth, homemade or low-sodium canned

  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 clove garlic, finely chopped

  • 1/2 pound Gruyere, grated

  • 1/2 pound sharp Vermont or New York yellow cheddar

  • 3 tablespoons corn starch

  • 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

  • Salt

  • 1 tablespoon Bourbon, whiskey or apple jack, optional

Spinach Almond Crostini (by foodnetwork.com)

  • 1 pound fresh spinach, washed, dried, and stemmed

  • 1 clove garlic

  • 3/4 cup sour cream

  • 1/4 cup chopped toasted almonds, plus more for garnish

  • 1 teaspoon chopped fresh parsley

  • 1 teaspoon chopped fresh thyme

  • 1 teaspoon chopped fresh chives

  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper

  • Kosher salt

  • Zest and juice of 1/2 a lemon

  • Toasted baguette slices, for serving
